Top 10 wedding tips!

1. Set your budget from the start

Once you have selected a budget you can work out what type of venue you are looking for and how many guests you can invite.  From here you can plan the fun stuff that makes your special day stand out… Like a Magician for entertainment, for instance or a Magical Master of Ceremonies!

2. Venues

Now you have a budget it’s time to visit the type of venues you are thinking about for your day.  Be thorough, ask as many questions as you like and be sure to check out food and drink menus and corkage options.  It’s also a good idea to check out the venue entrances, bar location and what rooms you have access too.

3. Follow your own traditions

Remember this is your day, there are no rules to wedding planning and weddings.  Make it how you want!

4. Photography

Photography is so important on the big day.  Do your research, ask to see some examples of work and buy the best you can afford.  You can’t put a price on memories.  If its in budget, look into hiring a videographer too.

5. Maximise your budget

You don’t need to buy everything if somethings can be made yourself or upcycled in some way, for example, making your own invites or painting a wedding gift box a different colour.  Same goes for the floral budget, flowers placed on tables during the ceremony/day time tables, could be used for the evening too.

6. Take your time

Plan out the wedding in your own time and go at your pace, you don’t need to make all the decisions on day 1!.

7. Yes to the dress

Don’t rush out and buy a dress until the venue and wedding date has been booked.  This could make the different between a comfortable wedding day and an uncomfortable one.

8. Keep it personal

This day is about the two of you.  Keep the day personal to you both and make it about you.  This could include the theme, dress code and colours.

9. Be honest with your opinions and thoughts

Be clear with everyone about your wedding ideas, plans and needs.  Make sure you communicate clearly to all the vendors and suppliers what you like and don’t like.  Keep them in line with your vision.

10. Enjoy the experience!

Enjoy the day and cherish each moment.  The two best bits of advice my wife and I got was:  ”After the ceremony take some time together alone to catch up on the day” and ”Stop every 20 minutes, look around and take it all in’
